The very first running of the Oklahoma Futurity, the nations' oldest futurity was back in 1947 making 2016 the 69th running of this historic race.

The Oklahoma Futurity is an open to the world race and despite the fact that many people think this race is restricted to only Oklahoma horses, that could not be further from the truth!! A total of 137 horses from all over the United States are eligible to enter this years trials. Trial entry date is March 4th and the trials will be run on Saturday March 12th. This years net Purse is $414,200 which includes $100,000 in added money from horsemen's purse account at the track. There will also be a $10,000 distribution to Nominators and $10,000 to Breeders for the connections of the 10 fastest qualifiers to the Futurity, and that bonus is distributed based on the finish of each horse in the final.

The 2016 Oklahoma Derby will feature the largest group of trial contenders in many years with 85 horses eligible to enter on March 5th with trials running on Sunday March 13th. Total purse for the Derby is $283,000 and the race also pays $10,000 each in breeder and nominator awards. Both races permit a late supplement payment of $7,500 which must be paid to the racing secretary at Remington Park prior to entry in the trials.
