For Immediate Release - Thursday, March 24, 2016

OKLAHOMA CITY – After finishing eighth in the $1.1 million Heritage Place Futurity at Remington Park in late May 2015, Volcoms Dash went on vacation. He returned to action Thursday night, a rested and ready 3-year-old, rolling to a three-quarter length win in a $21,100 allowance event.

Owned by the Oklahoma City partnership of Mayra Sanchez and Adan Arredondo, Volcoms Dash is trained by Manuel Almanza and was ridden by 2015 American Quarter Horse Association Champion Jockey Ricky Ramirez. A Texas-bred gelding, Volcoms Dash came away from the starting gate well but not on the lead. He eventually rallied to take over about halfway through the 330 yards, pulling clear late over Dynamite 123 who was a neck better than Pearls In The Sky, the third-place runner.

Covering the measure over a fast track in :16.687 seconds, Volcoms Dash was the 7-5 wagering favorite, paying $4.80 to win, $3.60 to place and $2.60 to show. Dynamite 123 returned $4.20 to place and $3.60 to show. Pearls In The Sky paid $10.40 to show.

The comeback win off a nearly 10-month layoff, was the second in the short four-race career of Volcoms Dash, a son of Volcom from the Takin On The Cash mare Lethal Cash. He picked up $12,390 for the score, driving his lifetime earnings to $56,364.
