CORONA CARMELITA FLIRTS WITH TRAINING RACE RECORD, TOPPING REMINGTON PARK WEDNESDAY SCHOOLING EVENTS

OKLAHOMA CITY – The top training race of the day took place in the first of 10 on Wednesday at Remington Park. Corona Carmelita flew over the 250 yard training race distance in near training race-record time.

Owned by Paragon Farms of Conroe, Texas and conditioned by Trey Wood, Corona Carmelita covered the training race distance in :13.055 seconds while under a hand-ride from jockey Edwuin Lujan. A 3-year-old Texas-bred filly by Corona Cartel from the First Down Dash mare The Creole Queen, Corona Carmelita’s time was only .100-seconds off the training race mark set by HYO Inseperable here in 2015.

The second day of training race activity was conducted under sunny skies with temperatures in the low 50s. All races were aided by northerly winds between 9-10mph for a steady tailwind throughout the day.

The Remington Park training races are streamed and available for review on the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Racing Association website at oqhra.online. More training races will take place at Remington Park on Thursday, Feb. 16, starting at 11am.

The 2017 American Quarter Horse Season at Remington Park will begin on Friday, March 10 and continue thru Saturday, June 3.
