GRADE ONE RACES DOMINATE HUGE STAKES PROGRAM SATURDAY AT REMINGTON PARK
OKLAHOMA CITY - May 29, 2019 – The 2019 Remington Park American Quarter Horse, Paint and Appaloosa Season concludes withChampions Night on Saturday, June 1, featuring nine stakes races on a 10-race program that starts at 5pm-Central.
The richest race in Oklahoma horse racing, the Grade 1, $963,100 Heritage Place Futurity and the Grade 1, $250,000 Remington Park Championship share the top billing for the stellar night of racing. Overall purses for the evening will approach $2.2 million.
The Heritage Place Futurity, a program valued at $1,073,100 when purse money paid out in trials is included, will feature a field of 10 that qualified over two nights on May 10 & 11. Jesses Dashair led the five who qualified on Friday, May 10 while Jay Number 7 topped the quintet from Saturday, May 11.
Jesses Dashair handled her 350-yard trial in :17.392 over a track labeled wet-fast with mild tailwinds at 8mph. Jay Number 7 managed his 350 yards the next night in :17.362 over a track that was labeled muddy with tailwinds at 5mph.
Owned by Dustin Cox of Duncan, Okla. and trained by Sammy Valdivia, Jay Number 7 has been pegged as the morning-line favorite by Remington Park odds-maker Jerry Shottenkirk, at 5-2 odds. Jockey James Flores has been named to ride the gelded son of Im A Fancy PYC from the My First Moon mare First Ginlark. He was bred in Oklahoma by his owner. Jay Number 7 has won three of his four races this season at Remington Park.

The Heritage Place Futurity is race eight on Saturday night with a scheduled post time of 8:50pm.
Remington Park Championship
The Grade 1, $250,000 Remington Park Championship always draws a quality field seeking to establish early dominance for top older horse awards for the year. Jessies First Down, a two-time American Quarter Horse Association World Champion in 2016 & 2017, will make his first start of 2019. The 8-year-old gelding seeks to defend his win in last year’s Remington Park Championship.
Owned by Ted Abrams of Houston and trained by Jimmy Padgett, Jessies First Down is the morning-line favorite at even-money. Regular jockey Rodrigo Vallejo will be up for Jessies First Down’s 39th career start. He has won 19 races with 12 seconds and one more finish in third for total earnings of $1,624,002.
An invitational event, the 440-yard Remington Park Championship will test a field of 10, many with stakes wins already this season including LD Is Back in the Grade 1, $100,000 Leo Stakes here on May 4. Admiral Sting has a pair of victories in Oklahoma-bred stakes company, winning the Mighty Deck Three Stakes (March 8) and the Mr Jet Moore Stakes (April 4).
